The daily routine (30 seconds)
- Rinse in lukewarm water
Body temperature is ideal. Hot water is the enemy of the surface finish — never above what your hands find comfortable.
- Mild, unperfumed soap
One drop of baby soap or dish soap, worked gently with fingertips. Rinse until it no longer feels slippery.
- Pat dry with cotton
Use the cotton cloth in the box, or a clean towel — never paper towels, which leave micro-scratches that dull the finish.
- Back in the tray
The molded tray keeps the shape while the form rests. A form left face-down on a shelf for weeks develops a flat spot.
The five habits that ruin forms
- Alcohol or solvent wipes. They cloud the surface permanently within a handful of uses. If you disinfect, soap and water is enough.
- Powder on the form. Talc belongs on skin before attaching an adhesive form — never on the silicone itself.
- Sharp jewelry and long nails. A 2 cm tear in the skin cannot be repaired invisibly. Put rings off before handling.
- Sunlight and radiators. UV and heat slowly embrittle silicone. Store in a drawer, in the tray.
- The washing machine. It happens more than you would think. It is not recoverable.
Adhesive tabs
On attachable forms, tabs last 8–12 wears each before the adhesion fades. Wash skin and form separately, let both dry fully, and store the form with its protective film on. Replacement tabs are inexpensive — most retailers stock them; ours are listed on the wholesale terms page.
Travel
Carry forms in hand luggage in the original tray. Silicone is dense enough to look unusual on an X-ray but is never a security issue — a plain "silicone prosthesis, medical" explanation has satisfied every check we have heard about.
